This Week at Pathways: February Success Story

Good Morning!

What a lovely day—I hope that you enjoyed the weekend of SUNSHINE! Reminds me of a poem by William C. Bryant, “The February sunshine steeps your boughs and tints the buds and swells the leaves within.” I feel refreshed and ready for the week!

Join us this week on Wednesday, February 24th from 10:00 to 12:00 pm for the Negotiating the Job Offer Lab with Jean Walker, Ed.D., CMF!

Since the New Year, we have seen an increased number of clients who are finding employment and I am grateful to all of you who are keeping me posted and updated with your interviews, networking meetings, etc.—all of these daily and weekly success are tremendous! I am happy to include the Success Story of the Month for February below.

February Success Story

Allen Hines is the new Account Manager for Dubois Chemicals!

“It feels good to have been chosen by OI Partners as the “Success Story of the Month” for February. I did not feel very successful for much of the last 4 months being unemployed, but it’s amazing how suddenly things can turn around. I am pleased to report that I accepted a job offer from Dubois Chemicals. I, myself, can take little of the credit for landing the job. Most of the credit goes to my job search network, personal support network (family, friends, and OI partners), and most of all, God.
In the process I learned a lot about patience, humility, and trusting that things will happen in their proper time. Brings to mind Ecclesiastes Chapter 3 (A Time for Everything) which was commemorated in the 1960’s Byrds song “Turn, Turn, Turn” (There Is A Season).
My part in the process was cultivating networking contacts and staying healthy. Staying healthy involved:

• Physically (eating, exercising, and avoiding alcohol).

• Mentally (cultivating a positive mental attitude, reading, and attending OI Partners seminars).

• Spiritually (reading scripture/praying, reading self-help books, and helping others).

It was a struggle at times to set goals, keep a schedule, be diligent, and not get depressed. The hardest part was being patient and trusting that things will work out eventually.
The experience of being unemployed was actually good for my personal growth; at least I can see that on hindsight. Now I can empathize with others in career transition and be a resource and networking contact for them.”

Good luck to you Allen, we wish you the best!

If you need to make an appointment, please give us a call! Look forward to seeing you this week!
